Great value
Great value for money, easy access from TCH, a stone’s throw from convenience stores and Lawton’s Drugs. Classic breakfast in the hotel restaurant is stellar.

Great clean updated rooms. Restaurant on-site with excellent food and a good menu. Good conference and meeting facilities.
We are a group of 8 (4 couples) travelling the T ‘railway trail we stopped here for the night. The front desk staffs are great very pleasant and friendly. The restaurant is clean, breakfast was good. The rooms were clean. It is close to a few fast food places, gas stations and a store.
A friend and I had the pleasure of staying at this fine establishment in September 2000, we were here for a moose hunt, and stayed a couple of nights like most hunters do, while waiting for the guide to pick- you up for a week-long hunt. The rooms were excellent, very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good as well. What got my attention was how helpful all the people were, anything you needed you just ask. I have been on several hunts in my lifetime, but never have I encountered so many friendly people in one area. The old saying is everyone is friendly in Texas, but I will have to add the people of Gander Newfoundland as well.
The staff was very professional and absolutely the most friendliness staff I ever met during my travel. They definitely show what people what Newfoundland hospitality is. I wish we took one of the suites however, our room suited us perfectly. The dining was top notch and again the staff were very professional. The overall cost was very reasonable for us. They made moving to Gander stress-free and very welcome. Highly recommended.
Wow. I’ve been in a lot of Hotels but this has got to be one of the best. Beds- Very comfortable. Staff – Great. Breakfast- Complimentary and Delicious and staff serving are great too. Would definitely come back.
Delicious food, staff helpful and friendly. Room very comfortable. Highly recommended
Fantastic! It’s a great experience for us all at this hotel. Lady at the front desk was so wonderful and very helpful. The hotel is very nice, our room was upgraded to 2 queens suite, very very comfortable and the kitchen/sitting room was very nice and of course, having 2 full baths was like the cherry on top. Highly recommend.
Best place in town for lunch with a price that just can’t be beat! I had the Mystic Trio with a BLT sandwich, caesar salad, and seafood chowder. The perfect amount of food! If you want a beautiful atmosphere with excellent service, this is the place for you!
The room was huge and very comfortable? The staff were very friendly
Would definitely stay there again.excellant value for your money. The shopping mall was within walking distance of the hotel. Very quiet.Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a quiet getaway.
I plan meetings/events regularly for work and personal, and I use the Capital Hotel whenever I can! Their event staff is an absolute pleasure to work with and accommodate everything they can. Weddings can be tough to execute, and this team does it flawlessly. Highly recommend for all your meeting and event needs!
Wonderful dinner and breakfast the following morning at Jack’s dining room. Our room was spotless and bathroom and pack up all the great linens on the bed couldn’t have asked for more staff at the front desk so welcoming and familiar just like going home
Situated in an area close to shopping and eating establishments. The room was very clean and the staff were excellent. Travel to St. John’s a couple of times every year and always stay at the Capital. The price is very reasonable and their restaurant is excellent as well.
Love the Capital location, breakfast all day, great staff, pet-friendly. great prices, walking distance to shopping, movies and other great places to eat. Easy exit to the highway. We come here even on day trips to town just for the all-day breakfast.
Gorgeous historic property with its own pond. We had a really nice room and enjoyed the Carriage Room restaurant. The pond is pretty, peaceful, an easy walk, and had ducklings, swallows, and a swan. Perfect place to conclude our Newfoundland vacation!
This inn made me feel like were we getting something different than what the normal hotels had to offer. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast included with the room was delicious. There are walking trails also that are right at the inn which are quite scenic. I really enjoyed the whole setting.
What an absolutely lovely place to stay for a visit. This Inn is old and has so much character and history. It is also very well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. The executive suite we were in was perfect for me and my partner and his mother. The adjoining bathroom was between the two bedrooms and it just worked out perfectly. The sitting area was comfortable too. Beds were amazingly comfortable and we all slept well. I highly recommend
We spent two nights here as part of a tour. The Inn was built about 100 years ago and has been very well maintained over the years. We had a 2 room suite with a king bed, 2 flat-screen TV’s, good A/C and reliable WIFI. The room was clean, bed comfortable and all the amenities you would need. Breakfast is served (not buffet) with many choices. It was very good. Lunch and dinner were excellent and the service is friendly and prompt. The grounds are well maintained. An excellent location for touring the city. If you visit Cornerbrook this is the place to stay.
Just got back from the JAG hotel and had to leave a review. Loved our stay on the 4th floor with a very comfortable bed, great climate control and lovely view of Signal Hill! Beautiful shower, all local bathroom products and even a dental floss dispenser! From the moment you enter the hotel, you are treated very warmly. There are doormen who welcome you and who also help keep traffic at the entrance from being congested! The staff at the reception desk was courteous, fast and very friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
I have travelled a fair bit in my life and stayed in many hotels, and I can honestly say for an overall experience this hotel trumps others that are easily 2-3x the price a night. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (3 people to open the door for me as I walked in made me feel like royalty) and made you feel right at home. The room was clean, spacious, and featured modern amenities that you usually don’t find in a hotel’s basic rooms. The bed and linens were so comfortable you almost forget that you’re even staying in a hotel. The bathroom re-emphasizes the cleanliness I mentioned early as it was spotless despite being a rather large bathroom with a giant waterfall (or standard if you prefer to set it that way) shower.
The hotel is perfectly situated near everything you need access to in St. John’s. It’s only minutes away from the local nightlife and shopping and is even within walking range of the major tourist sights (Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, etc.). If you prefer not to walk, it’s right near the main bus lines too.
I would recommend this place without hesitation to anyone staying in St. John’s.
The JAG Hotel is so amazing, from standing outside to the inside, it only gets better. At the door, you are greeted by a very respectful doorman. The mood that hits you as you enter the foyer is so relaxing. The restaurant is second to none. The staff cannot do enough to help you thank you, they make you feel apart of their own family. From the pictures on the walls to the comfort of the rooms, you will not be disappointed. It is a must-visit and a must stay hotel.
Very Clean hotel. Staff are #1. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon.
Once again my group thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the Glynmill Inn. You always do such a great job welcoming people and making them feel relaxed and “at home”. The Glynmill is where my Great Escape begins and that first impression of Newfoundland is so important. You never fail to impress me and my group. The dining staff is super and the food always delicious. Even when you are busy with other tours, you seem unflappable. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is second to none. Thank you so much for all you do to help make my tour a great success. It is, and will continue to be, a pleasure to do business with you.
Once again over 180 breast cancer survivors from all areas of our province called The Capital Hotel “home” for yet another weekend and once again our attendees enjoyed every second of their stay. So very much gratitude to every single person at The Capital Hotel for making our participants feel so special and giving them a weekend they will fondly remember!
I recently stayed in your hotel during a visit to St. John’s and I was absolutely mesmerized during my two nights. I have stayed in many hotels over the years and I have never been more impressed nor have I ever written a review. The art was absolutely brilliant, and I have no words to explain the range of emotions that flowed through me as I focused on each piece…goosebumpy! The staff, the rooms, the overall feeling was stunning to say the least. Staying in a hotel has never felt so right. Thank you for making my stay remarkable. — “Overall feeling was stunning”
Wow. Nothing could have prepared me for our stay recently at this glorious hotel. I have never experienced anything like it. From the magnificent bathrooms with walk in showers (why do hotels have baths?) with their ceiling rain showers, to the great pictures of rock stars of every description on every available wall, to the incredible Exile lounge which continues to show off stunning upholstered chairs with faces of rock stars from way back, to the GREAT staff on the front desk (Jessica Nicole and sweet Aarti) who made our stay even better, to the breakfast staff the lovely Jessica (next upcoming musician to watch for). Unbelievable music is streaming all day long both downstairs and in our rooms all hand picked by the owner (Exile Radio ). I truly need to have access to his playlist. Beds are turned down at night and expensive chocolates placed on our pillows. Bonus!! China cups and glasses in bedroom NO tacky plastic cups in this hotel. Yay! Bar fridge in the room plus a safe. Great reading lamps on both sides of the bed so we could both read. The rooms are spotless. If you haven’t been to this hotel you haven’t lived. It is an experience in itself. I cannot say enough about it. And…. rumour has it it is named after Mick Jagger. How exciting is that. Make sure you look for the coffee table in the foyer designed from the old cassette tapes. Never seen anything like it. Do not miss out on this great place. It is in an excellent location with perfect access to the downtown area. We LOVED it.
