Steele Hotels is in search of a full-time Cook to join our team at JAG Hotel. The successful candidate will assist in menu preparation, cooking all menu items, baking, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring a quality clean kitchen environment. This position will report directly to the Executive Chef of the Hotel.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Assist in creating new menus, taking into account food costing and seasonal food availability
  • Preparation and cooking of all menu items and features
  • Proper portioning/cutting of meats
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
  • Ensure all food service standards and quality requirements are met
  • Receiving and verifying product matches original orders
  • Ensuring adequate inventory levels and communicating discrepancies to the Executive Chef
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations
  • Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean, sanitized, and tidy, following all health and safety regulations
  • Ensure operations level of profitability and client satisfaction is complied
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

  • 5 years or more years’ experience in the cooking industry with an experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with large banquets
  • Cooking certification/diploma required
  • Knowledge of all cuts of meat
  • Canadian Red Seal Occupational Standard an asset
  • Experienced in food costing, menu execution, inventory control an asset
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with and without supervision
  • Food Safety Course an asset
