René Melancon
Operations Manager-JAG Hotel | Hotel Operations
René Melancon is the Operations Manager at JAG Hotel, joining the organization in May 2024 as Food and Beverage Manager. With over 33 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including more than 30 years in food and beverage and 27 years in leadership roles, René brings deep operational expertise and a strong passion for service excellence. His career includes playing a key role in opening and operating large-scale hospitality and event venues, most notably the Halifax Convention Centre, where he helped deliver events across 150,000 square feet of meeting and event space. He has also been instrumental in the opening of Latitude 44, a restaurant and taproom located within the Four Points by Sheraton Halifax.
René holds a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and has earned his Certified Food and Beverage Manager (CFM) designation through the Tourism Industry of Nova Scotia. Known for his hands-on leadership style and commitment to quality guest experiences, René brings a wealth of industry knowledge to his role and continues to be motivated by building strong teams and delivering memorable dining and event experiences.
