Larry Laite

Corporate Director, Hotel Operations | Steele Hotels

Larry is the Corporate Director of Hotel Operations with Steele Hotels. He has worked with the company for over 20 years in various positions. In his current role, Larry provides oversight and operational leadership for all hotels within the Steele Hotels portfolio, including the Glynmill Inn, Albatross, Sinbad’s, Irving West, Quality Inn and Suites Gander, Capital Hotel, and Jag in Newfoundland, as well as the Fredericton Inn in New Brunswick. His role focuses on driving operational excellence, consistency, and performance across all properties.

Larry holds a Graduate of Business Administration from the Cabot Institute of Applied Arts and Technology and completed vocational education through Memorial University of Newfoundland. His career in hospitality leadership includes serving as an Instructor in the Hotel and Restaurant Program at Eastern College from 1997 to 2000, followed by General Manager roles at the Mount Peyton Hotel and Delta Brunswick before joining Steele Hotels in 2004, where he has continued to grow and lead within the organization.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Larry has been actively involved in the tourism and hospitality sector through several leadership and board roles. He has served as Chair of Destination St. John’s and Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, and as a Board Member with St. John’s Sports & Entertainment, the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism Board, and the Hotel Association of Canada. Passionate about the future of the industry, Larry is motivated to contribute his experience and leadership as the provincial tourism sector continues to rebuild post-pandemic, bringing a strong and informed voice for the hotel and motel sector.
