Food & Beverage Outlets Supervisor – JAG

Steele Hotels is looking for an experienced Food & Beverage Outlets Supervisor at our JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL.
Our Food & Beverage Outlets Supervisor is the floor manager for our three food and beverage outlets, JAG Java coffee shop, and busy banquet operation. Food & beverage is a key factor to a great hotel experience and in the role of Food & Beverage Outlets Supervisor, you would be at the core of making that happen. Your watchful eye, talents and experience will be utilized to complete the following tasks:
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Use your experience to assist the Food & Beverage Manager in all aspects of restaurant operations to elevate the guest experience
- Ensure adherence to food health & safety, and sanitation standards, policies, and procedures
- Ensure that all food & beverage outlets in the hotel provide exceptional customer service, optimal staffing levels, and inventory control
- Supervise servers to ensure optimal appearance and exceptional guest care, and being attentive to guests’ need for service
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well groomed
- Ensure processes are followed to ensure customer satisfaction and integrity
- Help the manager establish and monitor side work such as filling salt & pepper shakers and sugar dishes, polishing cutlery, bar preparation and restocking, etc.
- Ensure receipt and accurate flow of communications during and between shifts
- Be aware of what happened during the prior shift and clearly convey happenings for the next
- Co-ordinate with the Night Supervisor to ensure that outlets are ready for morning openings
- Keep a pulse on and manage staffing needs
- Be trained as a Banquet Captain to help supervise banquet functions in addition to your assigned dining outlet
- Perform other duties as assigned and assist in other areas, particularly during major events or when additional support is needed
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Minimum 2 years food & beverage service or supervisory experience
- Must have a current Serve Responsible NL certificate or willing to complete training upon hire
- Experience using a POS System and tech-savvy systems expertise
- A passion for guest service, providing a great guest experience, and an easy conversationalist
- Beer, wine and spirits knowledge with the ability to make recommendations an asset
- A self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills, strong problem-solving skills, and high emotional intelligence to motivate, coach and train colleagues
- The ability to multi-task, stand for an extended period of time, be highly detailed, and work in a high-pressured environment
- Must be flexible to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, over nights and weekends
