Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John’s, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.

Steele Hotels is looking for a Dishwasher/Steward to join its growing team at our JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL The ideal candidate would possess a positive “can-do” attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and critical thinking skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dining areas, including dishwashing and equipment cleaning
• Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines

• Assist with general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and polishing in the restaurant, bar, and kitchen areas
• Stock serving stations with necessary items such as napkins, utensils, trays, and condiments; and support wait staff with service tasks, as needed
• Receiving and storing orders such as food, chemicals, and supplies

• Address guest inquiries and direct urgent requests to the Supervisor or Manager
• Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

• Experience as a Steward, Dishwasher, Server, or a similar role in customer service role is an asset
• Completion of the Safe Food Handling certificate, or willingness to obtain
• Thorough knowledge of industry standards for hygiene and safety regulations
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team
